My biggest regret is choosing Dr. Becker to do my dog’s total hip replacement surgery. After two failed revision surgeries, an MRSP infection, the complete lack of communication from Becker and staff, Becker’s associate surgeon telling me to amputate my dog’s leg, and unanswered question after unanswered question, I finally went out of state to seek better care for my dog. I spoke to and shared all of my dog’s medical history with three different orthopedic surgeons who specialize in total hip replacements from Idaho and Arizona and all of them agreed that Becker had not only put the neck of the hardware in at an severe angle when it should have been perpendicular to the bone, but he also didn’t put the cup in flush with bone either so no matter what my dog’s hip was always going to dislocate. All three doctor’s agreed that it was shotty work at best. On top of this, Becker had inserted a wire and screws to “keep the joint in place”, in which these doctors said that was a dated technique that was incredibly frowned upon in current practices due to its tendency to cause deep tissue infection. My dog ended up having an FHO surgery in Arizona where they also removed all of the hardware to kill off the MRSP bacterial mats that had formed on the metal which Becker has previously said they would “leave in if it came to an FHO because there was no reason to remove it”. All in all, if you are like I was a year ago, scouring reviews to find the right total hip surgeon for your doctor, I hope you will consider this information when you make your choice.

We dealt with an unknown knee injury for over a year with my sport dog. By the time we got to Granite, we had seen over 6 vets and received a PRP injection from another specialist- but nothing seemed to resolve the issue. Dr. Brandon Thibodaux and all the technicians showed us lots of support, care, and guidance. Everything was explained thoroughly, including the risks and benefits of each procedure. Less than a week after our initial appointment, they were able to get us in for an arthroscopy and my dog did end up having a partial tear, so we went ahead with the TPLO same day. Aftercare instructions were concise and complete, and the technicians offered lots of advice and helped me get my 80 pound dog in the car. Additionally, the pricing was more reasonable than every other vet we had seen. The estimate was explained prior and there were no surprise bills. We are extremely grateful for Granite and although we have a long road to recovery- they have saved my dog’s sport career! They got us in SO fast and had the answers we needed. Would recommend this clinic to anyone struggling with orthopedic issues in their dogs.
